Ontario Government authorizes increase in wholesale electricity rates charged to municipal utilities by Ontario Power Generation (formerly Ontario Hydro).
St.Thomas Energy Inc. customers will see an increase of point 7 of a cent per kWh or approximately $5.15 per month on an average residential utility bill beginning June 1, 2001. All monies generated by this increase will be applied to Ontario Hydro's stranded debt with no benefit being realized by St.Thomas Energy Inc.

Brian Hollywood was introduced as the new president and CEO of St.Thomas Energy Services Inc. effective April 30,2001. The new CEO stated his first goal was to meet with staff as quickly as possible. St.Thomas PUC changes name to St.Thomas Energy Services Inc.
Due to the deregulation of the electrical industry, we officially incorporated our new company on November 3, 2000. St. Thomas Energy Services Incorporated will operate under the Ontario Business Corporation Act, and will now have a five member board of directors who have been appointed. This board replaces the former commission whose members were elected during the municipal elections.
